{"product_id":"fender-jazz-bass-1968-4-060kg-3-tone-sunburst","title":"Fender Jazz Bass 1968 4,060kg | 3-Tone Sunburst","description":"A collector's dream: this 1968 Fender Jazz Bass is an exceptional piece of history, complete with the rare 1966 logo and serial number 249571 on the 4-point neck plate. The transition finish combines a nitro base with a thin poly clear coat (full nitro neck), just as Fender did from mid-1967 onward. The condition is stunning, almost museum-quality, with only minor signs of wear on the back, and the feel is pure sixties magic.\n \nIt sounds phenomenal: the old 60s bridge pickup spacing delivers a sound that never returned: warm, thick, and rich in the midrange, with a fat bottom end reminiscent of a Precision and a unique growl everyone craves. Neck stamp 7FEB68A indicates: Jazz Bass model, February 1968, with the exceptional A-profile (38.3 mm wide at the nut, narrower than a Precision, as Fender itself advertised in the 1960s). The alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard with binding and inlays are in perfect condition. In fact, we're talking about 1966 specs here, which makes it even more unique.\n \nCompletely original down to the smallest detail: untouched solder joints with cloth wiring, original capacitor, grey-bottom pickups with pencil dates from January 1968 (neck 6.83 kOhm, bridge 7.24 kOhm), original foam pads and baseplate. The potentiometers date from week 31 of 1966 (when Fender was buying in bulk), with original knobs. Complete with lollipop tuners, original thumb rest, pickguard, nut, bridge, saddles, frets (70-80% life left), tuners, output jack, screws, wires—everything, really. Even the two original pickup covers are present (without screws).\n \nThe Fender hardshell case (without logo) is included, likely period-correct ('64–'66) with a left-handed support insert. The bass has been professionally set up: frets cleaned, rosewood fingerboard oiled, octave-in-place, and fitted with new D'Addario XL strings (105–85–70–50). Although the action is now comfortable, the buyer may choose to lower it further. The truss rod moves perfectly, but is currently at its maximum. Should you wish to optimize this—and again, purely if desired—we recommend leaving it to an experienced vintage expert. This beautiful bass deserves the very best care!\n\n We're happy to send a video upon request so you can see and hear this Jazz Bass in all its glory. This bass has been inspected and appraised by a vintage connoisseur and can be safely shipped internationally with a carrier of your choice. This is a truly special bass that will take its new owner straight to bass heaven and will only increase in value.\n \nImportant to know: Because this bass is essentially a 1966 instrument, its collectible value is significantly higher than most late-'60s models. A 30-40% price increase within the next five years is very realistic, and these are already selling for almost double internationally. We've priced it competitively because at GitaarBarbaar, we want this bass to be played and loved again, not hidden away.","brand":"GitaarBarbaar","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":52917855584593,"sku":"GITB675","price":5750.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/1002\/5874\/2609\/files\/IMG_4108-scaled.jpg?v=1769551433","url":"https:\/\/gitaarbarbaar.nl\/en\/products\/fender-jazz-bass-1968-4-060kg-3-tone-sunburst","provider":"GitaarBarbaar B.V.","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
